Our development efforts directly impact our eye care efforts. Wherever we go, our mission of teaching, training, or eye care treatment objectives involve people. In other parts of the world – disasters, war, and epidemics take a bigger toll. Water and sanitation are critically linked to infectious disease.

• Red Rover Fair Trade – Our pilot retail store, formerly 7loaves, closed in Grand Blanc in June 2015.
  • Veni, Vidi, Vici. We are now rebuilding on a new platform.
• Swaziland girls education project. Swaziland has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the world and a high maternal mortality rate. Most kids in other countries don’t obtain an education beyond sixth grade and boys are still considered a priority.

  • Europe survey: training has shown trainees haven’t done enough live surgery before completing training—this impacts outcome. In minority populations, if someone has a bad outcome, no one from that community goes to the doctor and unnecessary blindness occurs
