"Teach a woman to fish and she has fish for life". Isn't that the saying? We are teaching Liberian doctors how to use the indirect ophthalmoscope like most US eye doctors when you go for an eye exam. It is one of two key pieces of equipment. The other is the slit lamp. We are currently seeking grant funding for newer models. Africa has very few eye doctors to take care of the most common causes of blindness--cataract and the need for glasses. The salary in Liberia is under $2/day . There are 2.8 billion people who live off of that.
